EnvyMe has an inviting atmosphere from the moment you walk in with the warm greeting and the offer of water/mimosa and a snack. My shampoo assistant was easy to talk to and gives a great shampoo (Alanna). Cynthia was my stylist. She is thorough and asks questions. My grey is coming in and I didn’t want a defined part, so she knew to style my hair so that can flip it. This was exactly what I wanted without asking. Great service all around!!!

I’m visiting Chicago this holiday season and decided to get my hair done. I choose Envy Me, thank God I made an excellent choice. The Solon was beautiful, clean and well organized. I received great hospitality from the door. I really admire the staff and their professionalism. I appreciate how they all worked together to make sure each customer needs was met. The ladies that worked on my hair did a fantastic job and achieved the style I was looking for. I love the look and feel of my hair and without a doubt, I will be back. If you’re ever in Hyde Park and is looking to get your hair done. I recommend Envy Me to anyone who is looking for a real Beauty Salon, call me ole school, I don’t care it will be a beautiful experience.

I had an amazing experience! I was greeted by Sierra with friendliness and tea, and my stylist Monica did a great job turning my 3 scoops of hair into something beautiful! Everyone I interacted with was kind. I look forward to maintaining quarterly visits here moving forward.

I always have a fabulous experience coming to this salon , Ms. La has the “customer experience “ on lock - she should have her own TEDtalk about !!! Today, my service was next level. My stylist, Aniyah, was lickety-split taking out the medium sized , long knotless braids. Did you know that if you don’t have a thorough detangle treatment after braids you risk your hair matting up and falling out ?? EnvyMe does a splendid job !!! And wonderful wash treatment as well ❤️ I concluded my services with a silk press; and Aniyah knocked it out of the park again 💕 I have been patronizing this place for a few years now. I have NEVER HAD nor witnessed bad service I truly love this salon, service with a genuine smile 😊 and every stylist is on point with the skills. If you don’t know about, you need to be about it and book your next hair appointment here👍🏽

Tl;dr if you have 4c hair you will be expected to pay a detangling fee and this is not clearly stated on the booking site. I tried this studio for the first time since I needed a last-minute blowout on a Friday. I booked online with my phone, and did not see that hair has to be fully detangled before coming for the service because it did not appear clearly in the description (likely an issue with booking with phone instead of laptop, which I accept fault for). However, there was no option for a $25 detangling add-on when I booked. There is a check box if you have “thick hair” but my hair is simply 4c and pretty low density. Before I even sat in the chair the front desk girl told me I’d need to pay a detangling fee. No one had touched my hair to feel for tangles. So it seems this salon exhibits a bit of texturism when it comes to non loose curl types. I’ve been to many black salons in the past and never had to pay a detangling fee. The owner/manager that informed me of this fee was pretty unpleasant and unempathetic. I don’t mind paying for a service but I like many other customers don’t appreciate fees tacked on at the last minute. And I didn’t think the website was clear enough about texture to insinuate that it was fully my fault that I didn’t select an add-on. All that being said, my stylist Tyra was an angel and did such an incredible job that she made up for the poor start to the appointment — why I gave another star back and a tip. Will likely not return, but recommend anyone that comes in the future request Tyra as your stylist.
